WELCOME!
The Compass is a literal translation of the establishment’s original Italian name ‘La Bussola’. It conjures up ideas of early maritime travel, boy scouts and adventure. The invention of the compass assisted explorers in the 9th-11th centuries to sail to previously undiscovered lands, and has been associated with sea faring ever since.
But after the wild seas, every ship must find its harbor.
Bari, a major port-city in southern Italy, has seen thousands of ships, their sailors and passengers, arriving and departing. It is from this town that the family behind La Bussola originated. And from their port city, Bari, they brought their cuisine, wine and craftsmanship.
Quality food and drink is still central to The Compass, and the venue’s Italian beginnings are a great influence on our menu. Yet, it is also a new departure. A new adventure that holds an exciting range of locally sourced produce, a range of pizzas, carefully chosen wines, aperitifs, cocktails and craft beer.
Like so many explorers and sailors before, let The Compass be your guide.
